BACKGROUND
Megan Hubert is a board-registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and Associate Professional Clinical Counselor. She earned her Master of Science degree in counseling psychology from California Baptist University, after completing her Bachelor’s degree in counseling psychology at California Baptist University.
Megan grew up in Indonesia before moving to the United States to attend college. Her experience living cross-culturally has given her a deep appreciation for diversity and an understanding of the many ways culture, family, community, and life experiences can shape a person’s identity and relationships. Having spent much of her formative life in an Asian cultural setting, Megan brings valuable cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity to her work, including an understanding of some of the unique experiences that Asian and multicultural clients may encounter as they navigate identity, belonging, family expectations, relationships, and transitions between cultures.
As a therapist trainee, Megan provided counseling services at California Baptist University’s counseling center, where she worked with a diverse population of undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students, primarily ranging from young adulthood through midlife. She gained experience supporting clients navigating ADHD, anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, suicidal ideation, and PTSD.
APPROACH
My approach to therapy is rooted in empathy, guided insight, and genuine care for your unique story and experiences. I believe healing happens best when you feel seen, heard, understood, and accepted without judgment. I am passionate about creating a safe, compassionate, and supportive space where people from all backgrounds can feel comfortable exploring both the challenges they are facing today and the experiences that have helped shape who they are.
I tailor my approach to each client’s individual needs and draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to explore and reshape unhelpful patterns of thinking, psychodynamic therapy to understand how past experiences may influence present concerns and relationships, and Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) to develop greater awareness and understanding of emotions.
My cross-cultural background has also shaped the way I approach therapy. Having grown up in Indonesia, I recognize that culture can influence how we understand ourselves, relate to our families and communities, express emotions, and seek help. I approach these differences with curiosity, humility, and respect, creating space to explore the cultural experiences and values that are important to you without making assumptions about what those experiences mean.
Life can feel overwhelming at times, and I believe no one should have to face difficult seasons alone. My goal is to walk alongside you with compassion and support as you navigate challenges, discover resilience, and move toward healing and growth. When desired, I am also happy to incorporate Christian faith, biblical principles, Scripture, and prayer into our work together. Whether you are seeking guidance through a difficult season or simply need a safe place to process life, I would be honored to support you on your journey.
